President's Message
Hello, Fellow Rotarians,

I hope this message finds you all in good health and high spirits. As we gather to reflect on the incredible journey we've embarked upon as a service club, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for each and every one of you. Together, we've achieved remarkable milestones and touched countless lives through our dedicated efforts.

This month holds a special significance as it is Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month. It's a time for us to unite in our mission to make a difference in the lives of those who may be struggling. Let us remember that even the smallest gestures of kindness and support can have a profound impact on someone in need.

As an organization, we have been at the forefront of positive change, and I'd like to take a moment to celebrate some of our great projects. From sponsoring our club's first RYLA youth leader and presenting at RYLA to supporting the Beloved Foundation in its mission to provide hope, help, and education to families affected by terminal cancer, we have truly exemplified the spirit of service. Our efforts have not only transformed communities but have also strengthened the bonds among our members.

In line with our commitment to making a difference, I encourage each of you to take a proactive stance during this Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month. Let's educate ourselves on the signs, reach out to those who may be struggling, and foster a culture of openness and empathy within our homes and communities. A simple conversation can save a life.

Creating a home where mental health is valued and supported is crucial. Let us make it a priority to check in on our loved ones, destigmatize mental health discussions, and provide resources for those in need. By doing so, we can help create an environment where everyone feels safe, heard, and valued.

Remember, it's the collective efforts of individuals like you that make our club exceptional. Together, we can continue to inspire positive change and be a beacon of hope for those who need it most.

Thank you for your unwavering dedication to our organization's mission and the causes we hold dear. Let's march forward with compassion and determination, knowing that our actions have the power to transform lives.

With gratitude and determination,

5 Steps to Help Someone Experiencing Suicidal Thoughts

  • ASK – Ask at-risk individuals if they are suicidal in a direct, unbiased manner. Listen to their reasons for being in emotional pain and focus on their reasons for living.
  • BE THERE – Physically or verbally be present for them, providing support and following through on promises of help. Connectedness acts as a buffer against suicide and the escalation of suicidal thoughts.
  • HELP KEEP THEM SAFE – Establish immediate safety by asking questions about any plans they have to kill themselves and reducing access to highly lethal means.
  • HELP THEM CONNECT – Connect them with ongoing supports like the 988 Lifeline, mental health resources, or work with them to create a safety plan.
  • FOLLOW UP – Check-in after initial contact with a message, text or call to show continued support; simple forms of outreach can reduce risk of suicide.
